High speed motors series information spindle motors and servo motors

The spindle motor is also called a high-speed motor, which refers to an AC motor with a rotation speed exceeding 10,000 rpm. It is mainly used in wood, aluminum, stone, hardware, glass, PVC and other industries. It has the advantages of fast rotation speed, small size, light weight, low material consumption, low noise, low vibration, etc. . In a modern society where science and technology are advancing at a high speed, due to the wide application of spindle motors, coupled with its meticulous workmanship, fast speed, and high processing quality of motors, other ordinary motors cannot meet the technical requirements of spindle motors and play in the industrial production process. Important role, so the spindle motor is particularly favored in the country and even the world.

In European and American countries, this technology is mainly used in electric power, missile, aviation and other industries. Due to the high technical requirements of the industry, high-quality, high-tech, high-precision spindle motors are required. China is also slowly adopting this technology. The Three Gorges Project, Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant, National Power Plant No. 1 and National Power Plant No. 2 also use high-quality spindle motors.

  1. In use, iron hooks should be used to clean the leakage at the lower end of the main shaft drain cover to prevent abrasive debris from blocking the leaking pipe.
    2.The air entering the electric spindle should be dry and clean
    3.The electric spindle is removed from the machine tool and the air pipe is used to blow out the residual water in the cooling cavity of the electric spindle.
    4. The electric spindle that has not been used for a long time should be oil-sealed. When starting up, in addition to washing the surface with anti-rust oil, you should do the following:
    (1) Pass the oil mist for 3-5 minutes, twist the shaft by hand, and feel no stagnation.
    (2) Use megohmmeter to detect the insulation to ground, usually it should be ≥10 megohm.
    (3) Turn on the power and run at 1/3 of the rated speed for 1 hour. When there is no abnormality, run at 1/2 of the rated speed for 1 hour. If there is no abnormality, run at the rated speed for 1 hour.
    (4) Precision steel balls are used to maintain the rotation accuracy of the electric spindle during high-speed grinding.
    (5) The electric spindle can adopt two methods of high-speed grease and oil mist lubrication according to different speed applications.
    (6) The temperature rise caused by the high-speed rotation of the electric spindle is eliminated by using the coolant circulation system

spindle motor and servo motor

Difference between servo motor and spindle motor

  1. CNC machine tools have different requirements for the spindle motor and servo motor:
    The requirements of CNC machine tools for feed servo motors are:

(1) Mechanical characteristics: The speed drop of the servo motor is small and the stiffness is required;

(2) Quick response requirements: This is stricter when contour processing, especially high-speed processing of processing objects with large curvatures;

(3) Speed  adjustment range: This can make the CNC machine tool suitable for a variety of different tools and processing materials; suitable for a variety of different processing technologies;
(4) A certain output torque, and a certain overload torque is required. The nature of the machine feed mechanical load is mainly to overcome the friction of the table and the resistance to cutting, so it is mainly the “constant torque” nature.

2. The requirements for high-speed electric spindles are:
(1) Sufficient output power. The spindle load of CNC machine tools is similar to “constant power”, that is, when the electric spindle speed of the machine tool is high, the output torque is small; when the spindle speed is low, the output torque is large; The spindle drive must have the property of “constant power”;

(2) Speed  adjustment range: In order to ensure that the CNC machine tools are suitable for various tools and processing materials; to adapt to various processing technologies, the spindle motor is required to have a certain speed adjustment range. However, the requirements on the spindle are lower than the feed;

(3) Speed  accuracy: Generally, the static difference is less than 5%, and the higher requirement is less than 1%;

(4) Fast: Sometimes the spindle drive is also used for positioning functions, which requires it to be fast.
B, the output indicators of the servo motor and the spindle motor are different. The servo motor uses torque (N.m), and the spindle uses power (kW) as an indicator.
This is because the servo motor and the spindle motor have different roles in CNC machine tools. The servo motor drives the machine table. The load damping of the table is the torque that is converted to the motor shaft. Therefore, the servo motor uses torque (Nm) as an indicator . The spindle motor drives the spindle of the machine tool, and its load must meet the power of the machine tool, so the spindle motor takes power (kW) as an indicator. This is customary. In fact, through the conversion of mechanical formulas, these two indicators can be calculated mutually.

C. Additional items are different.

Servo motors can integrate encoders(default) and brakes,to realize closed loop control and holding load(keep in position),but spindle motors dont have such optional parts,spindle motors just rotate in open loop and start/stop freely.

high speed servo motors are mainly used in below fields:

Engraving is used for non-metallic materials such as wood, bamboo, regular PCB, PVC, PMMA, plastic, and ABS. It can also be carved on soft metal surfaces such as gold, silver, copper, aluminum, and lead for processing.

some light and micro high speed motor can be used for Joint planers, surgical chainsaws, electric drill reamers, surgical sutures, ventilators, infusion pumps, injection syringes, blood analyzers, dialysis machines, dental fillers/milling machines, oxygen concentrators, high-speed surgical bone drills, peristaltic pumps …such surgical products and power tools solutions.
